Our pupils have been learning lots about how to use the internet safely. For Safer Internet Day every class chose what they believe to be the most important action they can take to stay safe online. This is now being put together into our Whitefriars online safety charter, a really important document that has empowered our pupils and which is owned, designed and produced by them. I am looking forward to sharing this with you.
There is always so many exciting things going on in our school. Today our Reception pupils are taking part in a drama and dance workshop with a jungle theme. They will love the interactiveness of this. Next week our primary section pupils will be taking part in STEM week. There is a whole plethora of talks from scientists, engaging science shows and even a presentation about robots. The week concludes with a story competition where the pupils will produce a piece of writing with a key message about climate change or global responsibility.
All our pupils really embraced our celebration of World Book Day. Reading is at the heart of all we do and it was lovely to showcase this and take the opportunity to learn even more about other cultures through new and exciting texts. Today is International Women’s Day and our secondary section pupils have been learning and discussing why the day is so important and the values that the organisation promotes. They have been embracing the #breakthebias theme, discussing how harmful stereotypes can be eradicated from society and making their own call for action. Our Year 8 STEM club made an amazing video for the school in which they celebrated the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the world. Great work!
Tomorrow our Year 9 pupils have their option meetings to confirm their GCSE choices. They have all engaged so positively with the process and I am looking forward to discussing these with the parents and carers that I have the honour of meeting tomorrow.
Have a lovely week everyone.
