The Spring weather has arrived and it is lovely to see our pupils enjoying the sunshine on our new Green Heart area.
A real highlight of STEM week was the visit from Professor Bubbleworks. The pupils were enthralled by the fire tornado and giant bubbles. There were so many STEM activities arranged that they wouldn’t fit into one week. It spilled over into this week and yesterday primary section pupils absolutely loved the ‘Silly Science’ show. They made cannister rockets, balanced Ping-Pong balls over a hair dryer and watched Mentos explode. It was very exciting!
Last week our entire Year 12 went to Warwick University to help prepare for their university applications. They attended lectures about the application process, financing university courses and the skills required for various careers. They also took the opportunity to go on a tour of the campus, they attended a university Classics lecture and took part in a Q+A session about university life. These opportunities will prove invaluable for when they soon complete their personal statements.
It was lovely to meet parents and carers at last week’s Year 8 virtual parents’ evening and at the very popular Book Fair. This week it is primary section parents’ evening and we look forward to discussing your child’s progress with you.
There is lots going on this week including for Year 9 who are going to watch The Lion King at the theatre in London. Good luck to Year 7 who have their annual examinations on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and good luck to the Year 10 pupils who are taking part a prestigious Maths competition at St Dominic’s Sixth Form College.
Have a lovely week everyone.
